La Fonte
Scendendo dal paese verso il torrente Fersinone si raggiunge la fonte di Pornello, oggi accessibile tramite una strada sterrata. L’acqua, sgorga freschissima e riempie le tre vasche del fontanile, un tempo utilizzate sia come lavatoio che come abbeveratoio per gli animali. Anticamente, le donne del paese, percorrendo un sentiero selciato, ormai totalmente invaso da arbusti di biancospino e rovi, si recavano alla fonte per rifornirsi d’acqua, che trasportavano con delle brocche sistemate sulla testa. Andare alla fonte, seppur faticoso, costituiva un momento di svago, di pettegolezzo e di incontri nelle dure giornate di lavoro delle famiglie contadine.
The Spring
Coming down from the village towards the river Fersinone, you can reach the spring of Pornello, now accessible via a dirt road.
The water, fresh flows and fills the three basins of the fountain, once used as a wash and a trough for animals as well.
In ancient times, the women of the village went to the spring for water, along a paved path now completely overgrown with bushes of hawthorn and brambles.
They used to carry jugs on their heads. Although tiring, it was a moment of entertainment, gossip and meetings in the days of hard work of the peasant families.
